Welcome to Chris Moss Plastic Surgery
Dr Moss (MBBS, Dip. Anat., FRACS) is a fully trained and qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who specialises in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr Moss has special expertise and experience in complex cosmetic plastic surgery of the face (including facelift and eyelid surgery), nose (rhinoplasty) and breast (augmentation with implants, reduction and uplift). Facial reconstructive surgery, body contouring, liposculpture, non-surgical lip enhancement, anti-wrinkle treatments, dermal fillers and skin cancer treatments are performed regularly.
Dr Moss and his staff are committed to excellence in surgical results and patient care. We invite you to browse our website for further details on the practice and procedures performed or contact the office.
Introduction
Cosmetic plastic surgery, while not necessarily essential to physical health, can make a significant contribution to emotional well being and self-esteem by improving the appearance of body features and therefore enhancing one's self-image and confidence. This can translate into increased enjoyment of life and improved confidence in work and social life.
It is important to remember that many cosmetic plastic surgery problems presenting with symptoms of altered appearance may also have associated functional or medical defects which are repaired at the same time using reconstructive plastic surgery.
Dr Moss is a fully trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a Member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. Only qualified and recognised surgeons have these credentials. Dr Moss has been involved in the field of plastic surgery since 1989 in clinical practice and research, and has wide experience and expertise in the most up to date techniques of cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr Moss specialises in the group of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures referred to colloquially as Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr Moss is a national trainer for both Allergan (manufacturer of Botox, Juvederm and Voluma) and QMed (manufacturer of Restylane, Perlane and SubQ) who are respectively the largest manufacturers of cosmetic anti-wrinkle and dermal filler injection products in the world. Dr Moss is also on the Medical Advisory Board for Allergan (manufacturer of Botox, Juvederm and Voluma).
PHILOSOPHY
A personal word from Dr Moss (MBBS, Dip. Anat., FRACS)
Since cosmetic plastic surgery is often elective, it is essential that techniques should be safe and predictable, so no patient is ever placed under any unnecessary risk. Cosmetic plastic surgery must improve and rejuvenate without leaving an unnatural or operated appearance. It is vital that a surgeon fully explains their personal aesthetic aims and therefore the expected result in their hands. Personally, I believe in a classic, natural and soft beauty. Changes must often be subtle - yet never pulled, tight, artificial or imbalanced. Patients want to look better but never like a different person. This can only be achieved when the surgeon truly takes the time and effort to understand each individual patient and their requirements.
Sound surgical judgement, meticulous surgery and state of the art techniques are vital for the best possible result. Consultations, explanations and closely supervised aftercare must be performed by the surgeon.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
Dr Moss commenced his medical training at University of Melbourne Medical School in 1981, graduating with honours in 1987. His residency and General Surgery training was completed at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Alfred Hospital. Following this he completed Accredited Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Training in Melbourne. After successfully completing 10 years of training in surgery he was awarded his surgical qualifications (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr Moss held Senior Tutor positions in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Melbourne and at the Stanford University of California, USA. He received a Diploma in Human Anatomy in 1990 and later conducted twelve months of anatomical research into the safe surgical correction of facial ageing.
Following his Plastic Surgery training, Dr Moss completed a Travelling Fellowship in the USA to gain experience in the latest cosmetic surgery techniques. He was based at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York and also received further training in Los Angeles and Miami, gaining special expertise in cosmetic plastic surgery of the nose, face and breasts.
Upon returning to Melbourne, Dr Moss completed a further Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Fellowship.
To remain current and totally informed on all surgical techniques performed, Dr Moss joins with his peers and colleagues in regularly attending national and international conferences.
MISSION STATEMENT
Dr Moss is committed to excellence in surgery, results and patient care.
HOSPITALS
All major surgery is performed in high quality, fully accredited medical facilities. As appropriate, less extensive surgery can be performed in an accredited day surgery facility, or in the procedure room at his rooms in Toorak.
Choosing your surgeon
Please note that fully qualified specialist surgeons in Victoria have traditionally been referred to as Mr, however not all patients are aware of this so to avoid confusion Dr Moss now uses the title Dr.
Selecting a qualified and skilled plastic surgeon is an extremely important factor in the safety and success of your cosmetic plastic surgery. Dr Moss suggests three principles in helping you make this decision:
1.Always check the credentials of your surgeon! Ask if they are a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
2.Make sure you are comfortable with the artistic style of your surgeon's results and confirm exactly what they plan for you. Obtain further opinions until you are entirely comfortable with your surgeon.
3.It is false economy to put your health and appearance at risk by simply shopping for the lowest cost or a "quickie" procedure. Satisfaction with your surgery should be your first priority - remember, your result is for a lifetime.
