Funky Spex is a fun and funky optical store, specialising in unusual and limited edition eyewear including their own unique and colourful designs which are custom made in colours to suit you.

Unlike most optical stores, Funky Spex has remained absolutely independent so is not in any way, connected or associated with chain groups or mass buying groups.

Funky Spex is privately owned by Michelle Guthrie who is not an optometrist and who's motivation has always been a passion for fabulous eyewear. She designs fabulous frames which are exclusive to the store. This is what makes Funky Spex unique and so popular.

You'll find racks full of colourful and interesting frames...and they are all different! you won't find sales staff trying to sell you something....but friendly style consultants who'll give intelligent and honest advice about what suits. They are also qualified optical dispensers who'll give you practical and technical advice about lens options. The'y'll also fit your new glasses to your face for maximum comfort.

3 days a week, you'll find a 'switched-on' Optometrist who consults in-house especially for Funky Spex clients. Eye-testing is bulk-billed to Medicare. To avoid disappointment, we recommend you phone for an appointment.

Funky Spex Business hours are 10am-6pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am - 3pm Saturday.

There is free car parking on our side of Johnston Street, between Wellington and Smith or 1/2 hr meter parking directly across the road - beware of 4pm clearway.
