Funky Spex is a fun and funky optical store, specialising in unusual and limited edition eyewear including hand-made frames which can be custom made in colours to suit you.
Funky Spex is privately owned by Michelle Guthrie who is not an optometrist and who's motivation has always been her passion for fabulous eyewear. She designs fabulous frames which are exclusive to the store. This is what makes Funky Spex unique and so popular.
Unlike most optical stores, Funky Spex has remained absolutely independent so is not in any way, connected or associated with chain stores or buying groups. That's why you'll find racks full of colourful and interesting frames...and they are all different!
You won't find sales staff trying to sell you something....but friendly style consultants who'll give intelligent and honest advice about what suits. There are qualified optical dispensers who'll give you practical and technical advice about lens options. They are also expert at fitting your glasses to your face for maximum comfort.
Funky Spex is open Tuesday - Friday 10am - 6pm & Saturday 10am - 3pm
In house Optometrist on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Eye tests are bulk-billed if you have a current Medicare Card.

There's free parking on our side of Johnston Street between Wellington and Smith Streets, or half hour meter parking across the road (Clearway at 4pm) or meter parking around the corner in Smith Street.
