The Melbourne Fringe Festival is an annual alternative arts festival held in Melbourne, Australia. It is held in a number of venues throughout the city, such as Federation Square, the Melbourne Museum and the North Melbourne Town Hall. The festival includes a wide variety of art forms, including comedy, performance art, film, theatre and cabaret.
The Melbourne Fringe Festival has grown rapidly, and is now one of the largest such festivals in the world. It now annually includes more than 3,000 artists, 200 events and over 170 venues. The 2004 festival ran from September 22 to October 10.
