In Cold Light explores the elements of winter as represented in the work of Australian and New Zealand photographers and video artists. Presenting a range of contemporary takes on the romantic sublime In Cold Light traverses vast vistas of the natural landscape, constructed museum displays and bodies transformed by winter’s trace. Featuring images of ice, delicate veils of fog, wind, rain and snow–both real and imagined–the exhibition considers the metaphorical relation between cold environmental extremes and emotional, historical and poetic experience.
