A great venue must have 'that' element that drives it - the life force pulsing through its veins. One could only conclude that the heart of a great Melbourne venue, is the bar. At Yak they took this literally and put it into practice, by situating the heart a.k.a bar in the dead centre.
Compromising all the necessary ingredients needed for a night on the town, Yak serves as either a sit down restaurant, serving up mains as well as snacks, a more relaxed seating area for drinks with a choice of tantilising tapas, or a low lounge area just for drinks. Yak opens up in the summer, decked out for alfresco wining and dining with the aid of bi-folding doorways opening out to a permanent sidewalk seating. A bar that takes its food as seriously as its drink, Yak have obviously done their research into the hunger and cravings created by alcohol consumption, serving up their extensive tapas menu until midnight on the weekends.
No detail has been overlooked, from the intricate choice of decor, to the extensive wine and cocktails lists, from the carefully chosen tapas menu, to the central positioned bar easily accessible from every angle.
